Re: What Games Do You Enjoy?

Dark Souls because who doesn't like dying 10 times in 5 minutes. This is really interesting to me! I've heard so many people say that they love Dark Souls, but I don't know anything about it, other than that it's extremely hard. What makes Dark Souls a good game? Dying 10 times in 5 minutes sounds ...

Re: What Games Do You Enjoy?

I will address my favorite genres and then give the games I've enjoyed the most . Truly, a connoisseur's list, and I like your approach to the question, dividing it by genres. I'm not sure if my preferences are as varied as Torvus', but I can enumerate a few of my favorites and say why I like them....

Re: Helloooo!

ShyyGuy, welcome to the boards! Huge thanks for joining up! I've been digging the PoE updates of late, particularly some of your latest pixel art. I'm a big fan of the overworld sorts of imagery you post to Twitter, and I'm stoked for a release, man. Haven't used forums like this in a loooong time! ...

What Games Do You Enjoy?

Mazarus asked me a great question in an email the other evening, and I think it would make a great topic for a forum conversation: What kind of games are you playing? I think that as designers, the games we enjoy help to shape Outer Colony. I'm really interested in the games that potential players e...

Re: Hey Everyone

Huge thanks, man, and I will aim to get you in on one of the upcoming internal releases for sure! We're using MantisBT for issue tracking, so you'll feel right at home, if you find any defects that you'd want to report. I've definitely still got a lot of work ahead of me, but it's my sincere hope th...

Re: Hello All

Hi, Mazarus, and welcome to the boards, man!

Haha, that's one of the things I'm finding out as testing moves forward with people other than me. Is Outer Colony really hard, or do most of my colonies fail in the first year, simply because I'm terrible at my own game?

Only time will tell.

Re: Primary Play Style: Single or Multiplayer?

That may be a common approach for a lot of players - starting with single player and working their way up to multiplayer. One of the biggest take aways from internal testing, so far, has been that I probably need to write a comprehensive "getting started" sort of tutorial. I think most peo...

Re: Imperator Has Arrived

Imperator, so glad to have you on the forums, man! He's been a part of the project through its previous incarnation as TFR, back to the Unity prototyping days in 2011, and the even earlier, formative discussions that occurred before that. He's basically the father of the Surssian culture, designed a...

Re: Primary Play Style: Single or Multiplayer?

The single player mode does serve as an interesting test bed for new ideas, so I might find myself fiddling with it more than I do in most games. I would probably need an extra few hours in the day to fit that in, though. I have a feeling my strategies will be prototyped, tested, and executed in the...
